The Center's Project Process Architecture was first developed to enable our clients to move through the project lifecycle at an accelerated pace, without sacrificing the key steps necessary to produce high quality products. The model has since evolved to its present stage through extensive use by clients in industries including information technology, banking, manufacturing, engineering, finance, health care, apparel, communications, and insurance.

The hallmark of the Pre-Launch stage is due diligence. The primary question here is-are we doing the right thing? The key deliverables of this stage are project description (including SMART business objectives and measurable success factors), list of stakeholders, complexity and risk assessment, a scope statement, and development of the project charter.

Launch stage activities focus on developing a comprehensive plan (consisting of phases or time boxes, deliverables, tasks, networks, responsibilities, and milestones, identifying the project sponsor, defining the project organization, mapping team skills, and developing accurate effort, cost, and duration estimates.

During the Implement stage, the project is turned over to the end-users. Senior development team members remain with the project to evaluate the implemented system for its performance and ease of use. Team members then fine-tune the system to meet client expectations.

This 4-stage, 24-step model is scaleable. The project team chooses the appropriate number of steps to fit the size, complexity, and importance of each individual project. Additionally, the effort and time spent on any given step is in proportion to the complexity and size of the project.
